Let Us Talk About Female Empowerment

At Doctor A Cosmetics, we believe in female empowerment. For us, the future is female. Our brand would not be possible without the women who support it every day. Doctor A Cosmetics was founded by Doctor Anika, a South-Asian dentist on a mission to revolutionise the beauty industry with inclusive skincare products that work for every skin colour. A total of 95% of the Doctor A Cosmetics team are women, making us a female-founded business that believes in the concept of ‘girl power’.

We believe that little girls have to see it to believe it. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of leaders within the beauty industry and beyond. We want every woman to feel beautiful in their own skin. Our products are formulated to make you feel empowered. We believe that empowerment starts on the inside.

We want to introduce you to two of our female role models, the women who empower us every day to strive towards a better future.

In January, the world welcomed its first American female Vice President – and the first woman of colour. Kamala Harris, the former California senator, made history as a black and Asian-American woman. On the night that the Biden/Harris campaign won the election, the future VP gave a speech in a suffragette white pantsuit and gave a speech that has already become something of legend.

I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last”.

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist who was shot during an assassination attempt by the Taliban for her activism, which included writing for the BBC and part-taking in a New York Times documentary. Malala was transferred for treatment in Birmingham, with the incident sparking international attention. After her remarkable recovery, she co-founded the non-profit the Malala Fund.

In 2014, she became the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate when she was awarded the Noble Peace Prize. She graduated from Oxford in 2020 with a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.

Both Kamala and Malala inspire us for their determination, resilience, and refusal to sacrifice what they believe in. They encapsulate everything about the female empowerment movement.

At Doctor A Cosmetics, our next-generation skincare products are designed to empower women by helping them feel confident in their own skin. As a skincare brand founded by a young woman of colour, we believe it is time the beauty industry becomes inclusive. We are working towards creating universal formulas, using natural ingredients that work for every skin colour, every skin tone and complexion.

Our ‘Give Back Beauty’ scheme takes Doctor A Cosmetics beyond being a beauty brand. Anika Food Charity is a food and baby bank established by our founder, Doctor Anika. We donate 5% of our profits annually to the charity and work in partnership with organisations to help tackle domestic violence, period poverty, and homelessness.

At Doctor A Cosmetics, you are our inspiration. Beauty is universal, and the future is female. Which women do you count as your role models? Who inspires you? Let us know in the comments below!
