Why Is Skincare Important?

Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body? Yes, that’s right! By caring for our skin, we care for our overall health.

The skin consists of three major layers:

 1)The epidermis
 2) The dermis
 3) The subcutaneous layer

The epidermis is the outermost layer, and the one skincare products work with. The dermis consists primarily of the protein collagen. Collagen provides our skin with strength and flexibility and is essential for firm, youthful skin. The subcutaneous layer is made up of fat and connective tissue that insulates our body and absorbs shock to prevent injury.

Your skin cells are constantly shedding, daily, every minute. Having a good skincare regimen will help not only look after your skin but can also prevent many skincare problems such as wrinkles, dehydrated, dull skin, sunburn, acne and more.

Benefits of having a good skincare regimen:

  • Prevention is easier. Having a good skincare regimen can delay the signs of aging.
  • A good skincare regimen can save you money especially when seeing a dermatologist for skin issues such as pigmentation and scarring.
  • Confidence- A good and clear skin makes you look good and feel good.

Remember skincare is unique and personal to each individual. What may work for others may not work for you. It is a beautiful, lifelong journey and it does not happen overnight. Be patient with your skin and love your skin. Remember, skincare issues are only temporary.
